Local Government Association CERT Clearing House Accreditation Awarded to Enact
Major New Partnership to Transform Public Sector’s Energy Efficiency Efforts
The award winning energy consultancy, Enact, has been accredited to manage the Local Government Associations’ CERT Clearing House initiative. Aptly named the Carbon Reduction One Stop Shop (CROSS) Funding Partnership, the Enact managed service will assist local authorities and RSLs in their energy efficiency efforts whilst providing utilities with CO2 savings to contribute towards their CERT commitments.
The CROSS Funding Partnership is supported by a conglomeration of major players in the local government and housing industries, including the LGA and it’s counterparts in Wales and Scotland. . The accreditation provides Enact with a stronger more affirmed presence amongst housing providers and those in the energy industry as a company dedicated to promoting and assisting energy efficiency.
The weighty partnership encourages local authorities and RSLs from across Great Britain to pool home energy efficiency improvements in their housing stocks together in order to secure competitive bids from utilities to contribute towards energy saving measures through an auction style process, which is based on the estimated CO2 savings accumulating from the total number of properties.
The considerable potential of the Enact managed CROSS Funding Partnership is unquestionable. The partnership simplifies the funding process and resolves accessibility issues, encouraging local authorities and RSLs to apply for funding when they previously may not have felt they would benefit.
Furthermore, the revolutionary economies of scale approach to sourcing funding for energy saving measures on a national scale is of significant benefit to not only the major housing provider but also the smaller RSL who previously may not have applied to CERT for funding due to a lack of understanding of the benefits and regulations of getting housing stock up to standard and who to approach to assist with the task.
Installers will also reap the benefits of the new partnership through consistent lead generation throughout the traditionally quieter summer months.
Initially the CROSS Funding Partnership will utilise Enact’s 11 years of expertise through promoting and assisting the installation of loft and cavity wall insulation, with the possibility for the scheme to evolve and encompass all energy saving measures including renewables and heating by the end of the year.
